Apprenticeship Building America Round 2 Out Now

$95 million for 18 awardees dedicated to expanding, diversifying and strengthening Registered Apprenticeship.

Yesterday the US Department of Labor announced round 2 of Apprenticeship Building America, 18 grants for public and private partnerships to serve a range of industries that move apprentices into good jobs.

This round funds 3 categories of grants:

  1. Ensuring equitable apprenticeship pathways through pre-apprenticeship
  2. Creation of education system-aligned pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships
  3. Registered Apprenticeship hubs

Grant funds come from H1-B visa fees and grantmakers are prioritizing in-demand sectors and occupations including IT/cybersecurity, K-12 teaching, care economy, clean energy, hospitality, public sector, and supply chain.

The notice of funding opportunity identifies a set of cross-cutting principles that will be familiar to those that have applied for DOL grants in the past: Diversity equity and inclusion, job quality, sustainability, approaches based in evidence, and opportunities for innovation, engagement and ease of access.
