Next year USAID will “engage, strengthen, and fund” Nigerian organizations at a total of $250 million.
USAID-Abuja is set to close this round of Partnerships for Progress on June 2nd of 2025, with funding intended to address priorities in economic growth, education, health, conflict mitigation and good governance. Applicants must be local Nigerain entities.
The agency takes a broad view of what constitutes economic growth, and includes in their Notice of Funding Opportunity water, sanitation and hygiene, power, agriculture and private sector engagement as parts of the whole of economic growth.
Throughout the Notice, the agency highlights that they intend to empower local actors to not just participate but lead in the identification of local development challenges, pairing that with proposing and implementing local solutions. “Local communities” have a broad definition, but must be local to Nigeria.
