NOAA’s Climate Ready Workforce

20 grants available at up to $10m for applicants in coastal states and territories.

As part of the Inflation Reduction Act, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), under the Department of Commerce, will assist communities in coastal and Great Lake states and territories to form partnerships that train workers, placing them into jobs that enhance climate resilience. NOAA expects to make between 10 and 20 awards ranging from $500k to $10 million. Letters of intent were due November 30th, and applications are due February 13th.

NOAA envisions collaborations that will support regional economies, with training programs that:

  • Build in-demand skills
  • Provide wrap-around services for participants to enroll and complete training
  • Help  workers enter into good jobs that enhance climate resilience

Much of NOAA’s focus is on prioritizing historically underserved communities. See page 2 of the full Notice of Funding Opportunity for more details and links on how the agency envisions removing barriers to benefit historically disadvantaged communities.
