Nine awards at up to $2 million are available, with applications for research infrastructure for science and engineering projects due August 1st.
The Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology program will enhance the research capabilities and capacity of minority-serving institutions of higher education through the effective integration of education and research. The project, according to the announcement at grants.gov, “promotes the development of new knowledge, enhancements of the research productivity of individual faculty and postdoctoral scholars, and an expanded presence of research doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines, especially those from underrepresented groups.”
NSF wants to see proposals in areas of national interest, including:
- artificial intelligence
- data science and analytics
- advanced materials, manufacturing, robotics
- cybersecurity
- plant genetics/agricultural technologies
- quantum information sciences
- nanotechnology, semiconductors/microelectronics technologies
- climate change and clean energy
