Semiconductor Competence Centres

Digital Europe funding for support of the Chips for Europe Initiative closes 2 October.

With total funding of EUR 116 000 000, Chips Competence Centres (Chips CCs) will offer support activities that will promote success stories, act as the entry point for SMEs and startups, facilitate skills development, support companies accessing the Chips Fund and other activities including outreach to the larger community of organizations that could benefit from the above efforts. Funding will be available at EUR 1 million per year, per country, for four years, with no differentiation based on country size.

Relevance, implementation and impact make up the three award criteria, with funded organizations able to show their alignment with the objectives of Chips for Europe, the soundness of their implementation plan and how the project will achieve the expected outcomes.

The grant documents go into greater depth on possible support activities:

  • Facilitating access to the design platform and to pilot lines
  • Supporting interested stakeholders in developing semiconductor solutions (technology transfer)
  • Providing (access to) training on skills
  • Facilitating access to the European Network of Competence Centres
  • Promoting the Chips Fund and facilitating access to venture capital
  • Awareness raising, promoting services, promoting success stories
