In addition to formula funds, resources are available for innovation, equity, expansion and modernization of Registered Apprenticeship.
With $100 million total in funding available, $50 million of that dedicated the competitive awards, the US Department of Labor last month announced a new round of State Apprenticeship Expansion funding due one month from today on April 4th.
Competitive funding will be awarded to strategies that seek to:
- Increase diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in apprenticeship.
- Align or incorporate CTE.
- Expand pre-apprenticeship.
- Support key industries including care, K-12 and those highlighted in the Investing in America Agenda.
- Use funds to pay for related instruction and incentives to employers to fund new or expand existing apprenticeships in targeted industries.
- Establish statewide intermediary or apprenticeship hubs.
States that win a competitive grant will receive this funding once for a five-year period. States awarded a competitive grant in round one are not eligible.
