Tools Competition Europe

More than $2 million in funds for educational innovation open to organizations in Europe and around the world.

Today The Learning Agency hosted a Europe-focused call for the fifth cycle of the Tools Competition, a multi-million dollar global competition for innovation in educational technology. The competition hopes to source innovation in educational technology and tools that can provide data. Over the course of the previous three cycles, the competition has seen 4,600 proposals from more than 70 countries, with a total awarded of $17.5 million to 130 winners. Projects are expected to create impact for more than 131 million learners.

Learning Engineering is at the core of the competition:

Learning Agency staff presented a set of related questions:

  • What learning data is your tool generating?
  • What sorts of research questions are you asking?
  • Can researchers use the data to better understand how students learn?

The timeline for the competition begins now, with abstracts of 1-2 pages due 25 October. Some percentage of applicants will move on to phase 2, with detailed proposals due 16 January of next year.
