USAID Somalia Accelerated Education Activity

Due November 13th, one $40 million award is available to increase access to quality accelerated basic education.

USAID’s new activity in Somalia will increase opportunities for out-of-school children to develop literacy and numeracy skills. The Notice of Funding Opportunity says the activity will, “improve learning outcomes for children and youth, strengthen community involvement in and ownership of education, and strengthen local and federal government capacity to oversee the delivery of quality education to marginalized Somali children and youth.”

With a history of investment in the country and lessons learned outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity, it is clear USAID understands the kinds of organizations that will be successful in a challenging environment.

That said, eligibility for this opportunity is broad, with a wide range of organizations that could be funded. “USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously done business with USAID.”
