USDA Risk Management Grants Available

Due January 15th, more than $9 million is available for four regional risk management education centers.

With a purpose of developing and delivering agricultural risk management education materials, USDA intends to education agricultural producers about the full range of risk management activities, including future, options, crop insurance debt reduction, and more. USDA will also fund one Risk Management Education Electronic Support Center.

The program will emphasise risk management strategies for:

  • Beginning farmers or ranchers
  • Legal immigrant farmers or ranchers that intend to become established producers
  • Socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers
  • Retiring farmers or ranchers that employing transition strategies
  • Farmers or ranchers pursuing new markets

The four regional centers (northeast, north central, southern and western) will be funded at $2.15 million each and will be complemented by one Electronic Support Center funded at $452,640. The period of performance is 3 years and eligibility includes colleges and universities, Federal, State, and local agencies, nonprofit and for-profit private organization and corporations.
