YouthBuild Closes September 16th

DOL’s Employment and Training Administration expects to make 75 awards with total program funding set at $99 million.

Another round of YouthBuild focused on opportunity youth ages 16 to 24 is due next month, with a competitive process identifying up to 75 grantees that will provide pre-apprenticeship services to support education, occupational skills training and employment services, all with the overarching goals of meaningful work and service to community.

YouthBuild has traditionally focused on the construction industry, but recent years have seen the program’s mandate broaden into other in-demand industries. Successful grantees will not just offer training but will provide support services including trauma-informed care, counseling, transportation and employment prep.

Eligible applicants include both public and private non-profit agencies in urban, rural or tribal areas. Grants will range from $700k to $1.5 million and require a match of non-federal funds at 25 percent. The period of performance is set for 40 months, with 4 months planning at the start and twelve months of follow-up.
