European Startup and Scaleup Hubs

Horizon Europe set to award up to €40 million with a deadline of 5 January.

Published earlier this month, the European Startup and Scaleup Hubs pilot  intends to strengthen Europe’s deep tech capabilities, “increasing regional innovation cohesion and supporting the growth of globally competitive companies.”

The pilot will create strong networks of existing and emerging statup, bringing together:

  • Research and higher education institutions
  • Research and technology organisations
  • Corporations
  • Entrepreneurs and investors

The funding will pilot two networks of 10-18 hubs built on strong track records of venture building, scaling and investment-attraction. The funding call envisions six outcomes:

  1. Better interconnect their innovation ecosystem
  2. Foster shared infrastructure and expertise
  3. Set up a highly selective acceleration programme for high performing startups
  4. Provide networking opportunities
  5. Support the development of both local and network-partner startups, and
  6. Bridge regional gaps (via mentoring, shared services and capacity building)

The online info session happened last week. The recording is here.
